Jordan: Most of what we wrote about actually happened, or was on it’s way to happening. “Sure, this is nice card stock, but does this card stock represent who we are as a couple?” Those neuroses inspired a lot of what we started to write. Laura: When we started planning, we were overwhelmed with choices. You guys were engaged while making “Engaged.” Did anything specific happen in your engagement that made you think, “Wow! This would be a great sketch?” Then we continued doing the comedy thing at UCB, our favorite place in the whole world that’s under a grocery store. We liked the idea of having a refrigerator in our living room. Then we decided to move to New York to be closer to each other, literally, in cubic feet. Laura: We met together doing comedy in Chicago at places like iO and the Second City. When did you guys start working together and how did this pairing come about? We had the chance to catch up with Laura and Jordan to learn more about the project. They perform improv and sketch comedy, they write, they act–they basically do everything. Laura Grey and Jordan Klepper are the duo behind “Engaged,” the latest short from UCB Comedy. Want more UCB Comedy? Click here or here!
